Herstmonceux Castle Wedding

August… and the weather couldn’t be more perfect for a wedding at Herstmonceux Castle!

I first met Olivia and Matt back in January 2015 and from our first meeting they were a joy to work with. Olivia had clear ideas of what she wanted…..understated modern elegance with the tiniest hint of bling!

Red Rose and Bow Cake

White with touches of deep velvety red were the theme for this wedding and the cake was a real treat to make. Oliva and Matt decided on some classic flavours that would be pleasing to all of their guests…..Double chocolate with a chocolate ganache filling, Zesty lemon with whipped lemon curd butter cream and the ever popular Madagascan Vanilla bean and raspberry.

The over sized deep red sugar roses…..an absolute favourite of mine topped the cake off perfectly! Hand pipped lace covered two of the tiers and inspiration was taken from the brides dress to create the sugar bow which sat proudly in the middle of the cake. Strings of diamante ribbon overlapped the sumptuous red ribbon that matched the theme of the entire wedding. The cake was displayed in an alcove of the very grand ball room at Herstmonceux Castle. ……The perfect spot!

Oooh, almost forgot to mention the edible sugar petals that were scattered on the table…..

It’s All Pink! At Syon Park

Wow!…….Even in the rain Syon Park is stunning! The long drive through the park simply takes your breath away…..and it just keeps giving!

Nazlee and Gareth’s wedding reception was held in the Great Conservatory, the most enormous conservatory I’ve ever seen!! The cake took centre stage and set to one side was the perfect little desert table adorned with cake truffles, cookies and macarons to name but a few.

Pastel Pink Wedding Cake

The inspiration for the cake came from one of my own designs, the Pink Magnolia stripe and thanks to Nazlee I had the opportunity to make it bigger and better! Nazlee, one of the sweetest women I’ve ever met really wanted the cake to be the focal point of the wedding and wanted the “wow” factor so…..we went BIG, five tiers of chocolate filled with a rich chocolate ganache, luscious lemon with whipped lemon curd butter cream, moist carrot cake filled oozing with cream cheese frosting and the old classic, Madagascan vanilla with raspberry butter cream.

Pink Asian Wedding Cake at Syon Park

The pastel shades of blush pink combined with a touch of taupe worked perfectly together and as many people know, making sugar flowers is my all time favourite thing! I had hours of fun creating the Magnolia, Ranunculus and buds…… All in all it turned out to be the perfect cake for a perfect couple!

A four tier cake for Chilston Park Hotel with a TMNT twist!

Recently I delivered a wedding cake to Chilston Park Hotel, a stunning country house situated in the Kent countryside. Upon arrival at the house I was welcomed by what I can only describe as “wonderful staff” that made the delivery and set up run smoothly.

My lovely clients Philippa and Glen wanted a cake that was modern, clean and elegant but with a twist! Glen is a true fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so asked for this to be incorporated in to the cake without being too “in your face” of course, this could mean one thing…..the classic drain cover with the TMNT peeking out placed not so discretely on the cake board.. Two tiers of the cake were hand brushed with gold to match the topper that Philippa had provided. Gold twigs and a single magnolia flower rested on the bottom tier.

The cake stood proudly at the top of the very grand stair case and the guests were treated to some scrumptious flavours that included double chocolate with a rich chocolate ganache.

It isn’t often that I get to see the bride when I make deliveries but on this occasion I had the pleasure of seeing Philippa’s face light up when she saw the cake……What a picture! It was so lovely to see the whole bridle party looking at the cake and taking photos…..A very rare moment that I don’t usually get to see!

P.S Philippa….You looked stunning!!!
